WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A MASTER CLINICIAN?
To promote an environment that fosters and rewards clinical excellence by creating a system that is self-generating and self-sustaining. The goal of the program is not to replace specialist certifications endorsed by professional associations, but rather to serve as an area of opportunity for therapy leaders to pursue advanced clinical skills and knowledge in areas of passion.

BENEFITS OF MASTER CLINICIAN DESIGNATION INCLUDES:

Distinguish a therapist among their immediate colleagues as well as in their respective profession.

Improving the quality of care that is delivered by rehab departments to the patients.

Increasing patient base and referrals.

Distinguishing a facility in the community.

Master Clinician designation certificates will be displayed in each department.

Professional membership dues will get reimbursed once master clinician status is achieved and for each year the designation is maintained.

License reimbursement will also be included.

Compensation: The Master Clinician Program is a voluntary, personal, and professional development opportunity that has been developed to incentivize clinicians to pursue clinical excellence. It is voluntary, therefore the time spent by each clinician completing the outlined criteria is not compensated time.
THE MASTER CLINICIAN PROGRAM CONSISTS OF THREE PARTS:
PART 1: MASTER CLINICIAN CRITERIA COMPLETION

This designation will get awarded to individuals who have completed criteria for their respective specialties.
PART 2: MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

This is a yearly requirement to maintain Master Clinician Status.

Provide training with Documentation/Billing in your specialty area to your cluster/market and/or additional affiliates.
PART 3: ACE - ADVANCED CLINICAL EDUCATOR

Lead and teach CEU Approved Courses

Present at local or national chapters of professional organizations

Poster presentations at the local and national associations
OPTIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Therapists who already have specialist certifications through their professional organization will get granted Master Clinician status after they have completed and submitted a case report. Please contact the Master Clinician Committee.

The following Board Certifications through professional organizations will be accepted:

APTA: Geriatrics, Cardio-Pulmonary, Neurology, Orthopedics, CEEAA.

AOTA: Gerontology.

ASHA: Swallowing (BCS-S)

If a certification is not listed and you feel it meets the level of education comparable to above listed certifications, please contact the Master Clinician Committee and your certification will get evaluated.

How did the idea for the Master Clinicians Portal form?Noticing we had some clinicians starting special programs but others were not aware.

Who are the Master Clinicians?Clinicians with specific skills, certifications or knowledge areas Identified by a DOR or Resource as having or wanting skills Master Clinician as the generic term for a therapist with added skills then a specialty name such as TEACHA, Wound care specialist, Dysphagia specialist, etc.. How did the Master Clinicians gather their knowledge?Various ways to obtain the skill or knowledge- A specific clinical skill may require a certification or training provided by an outside source Internal training with a way to check skills An agreement by a group that a person holds a certain skills set

Is there a minimum amount of years required in the field?Not specifically, but maybe a minimum time to our organization.
